  • If you book a flight using a combination of miles and cash, you’ll only earn Etihad Guest Miles on the amount you pay in cash.
  • You won’t earn any miles when redeeming a GuestSeat.
  • You’ll earn Etihad Guest Miles on flights operated or marketed by Etihad. That means that if your flight number starts with EY, you’ll earn miles.

You can book a GuestSeat using a minimum of 50% of the required miles displayed for your fare, when you search online on etihad.com.

You can also pay for flights in full with miles or use a combination of cash and miles.

Yes, you can upgrade at the airport using your Etihad Guest Miles. This is called an instant upgrade.

If you want to request an instant upgrade at the airport check-in desks, the cost will be converted directly into miles. Please note that the value for instant upgrades quoted at the airport may differ from the value shown on the online calculator.

Upgrades are only available for you or guests booked under the same booking. Guests booked under a separate booking cannot be upgraded together.

Upgrades are subject to seat and meal availability and are given at the discretion of the manager on duty.

If you're booking a flight with one of our partner airlines, you can pay using miles only.

Miles values for connecting routes will be calculated from the origin to the point of transit or stopover and to the destination. Eg. If you’re booking a flight from Sydney to Perth via Melbourne on Virgin Australia, miles values will be calculated from Sydney to Melbourne and Melbourne to Perth.

Unfortunately, Etihad Guest Miles can’t be used to upgrade when travelling with our partner airlines. Please review the terms and conditions for more information.
